Auricular Reflexology and Acupressure Ear Seeds
Auricular Reflexology stems from Auricular Acupuncture, Auricular Therapy and Auriculotherapy – all of which are well researched by renowned medical doctors. Originally based on Chinese acupuncture and later developed in modern France by Dr Paul Nogier, auricular reflexology is now the recognised standard. It is simple, powerful and effective as a stand-alone treatment or combined with facial or foot reflexology, making the overall effect of any session more effective.
Auricular Reflexology, primarily a preventitive form of medicine is the stimulation of the auricle of the ear to help improve health conditions. It is commonly used for the management of chronic problems and pain relief.
Auricular Reflexology works the whole body system in much the same way as traditional foot, hand and facial reflexology, with each ear representing a full anatomical body. There are several cranial nerves innervating the ear, and over 500 nerve endings, making them an incredibly effective area to treat with reflexology.
There are over 200 Chinese acu-points on the ear that are used in Auricular Acupuncture, including master points, organ related points, pain specific points and anatomical points. There are probably as many protocols to manage numerous physical, emotional and neurological health conditions.
The auricle is the only part of the body which has direct access to the vagus nerve, allowing parasympathetic nervous system activation, which enable relaxation within the body. Auricular therapy stimulates specific points on the ear using finger and thumb pressure and probe, with ear seeds applied where necessary to continue the stimulation, either to increase or decrease corresponding energies.
Specific points are selected and combined for particular goals and psychological well-being, so clients can benefit in very specific ways. There are established protocols such as NADA, for addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, irritability and cravings.
Auricular reflexology can help with a variety of conditions and symptoms such as pain relief, allergies, insomnia, addiction and cravings (alcohol, smoking, drugs and food) and digestive disturbances, amongst others.
There is plenty of research to back its effectiveness in emotional and psychological problems involving the central nervous sysytem, promoting better sleep, improved relaxation, renewed vigour, better coping skills, reduced anxiety and stress and reduced cravings.
The full treatment begins with a therapeutic head, face and scalp acupressure massage to relax muscles, invigorate blood circulation and increase energy flow to the area. This makes Auricular Reflexology a perfect add-on to any of my facial treatments and more cost effective.
Ear seeds, used in Auricular Reflexology, offer a holistic non-invasive way to treat many common ailments and addictions. It is a safe and highly beneficial treatment that is used to enhance the immune system, produce deep relaxation, and improve physical symptoms of illness and pain.
