NUTRITIONAL THERAPY
Nutritional Therapy is the application of evidence based nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. It is a therapeutic approach to identify and treat nutritional imbalances and their associated symptoms. Nutrients and other food components influence the function of the body, protect against (or indeed promote) disease, restore health, and determine people’s response to changes in the environment. Under certain circumstances and in some individuals, diet can be a serious risk factor for a number of diseases.
Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and integumentary [skin, hair, nails]). Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations include support to achieve optimum energy levels, healthy blood sugar balance, emotional and psychological wellbeing, optimum gastrointestinal health and tolerance to a broad range of food groups.
As a Nutritional Therapist I recognise that each person is an individual with unique requirements and therefore devise personalised nutrition and lifestyle plans to help maintain good health and well-being.
An initial consultation typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes, with a health and nutrition questionnaire, supplied beforehand, being discussed in detail. Follow up consultations are generally four weeks later, in order to monitor progress and make any adjustments. Further follow-ups may be required depending on each individual situation.
Initial Consultation:
Initial consultation, evaluation and personalised plan, with email support: £90
Follow-up Consultation:
Evaluation and advice: £40
